Plan a Visit

Welcome!

At Oranmore Community Church, we want to be a church where you can come as you are to draw closer to Christ, no matter where you are at. We realise that visiting somewhere new can be an incredibly intimidating thing, especially with a church. If a Christian worship service is new to you, you probably have loads of questions!

What can you expect at Oranmore Community Church?

What to expect - FAQ’s

  • At Oranmore Community Church, most people dress casual. But really we want you to dress in whatever makes you comfortable.

  • We gather weekly to worship and celebrate Jesus, to learn about God through His Word, and to encourage and fellowship with one another. We have a prayer time available before the service starts at 9:50. At 10:30 our worship service begins, and as a church we sing some songs together, have a couple short times of prayer, and listen as one of our teachers shares from a passage in the Bible and talks about how we can apply it to our everyday lives.

We celebrate communion together every week. We don’t believe the Lord’s Supper gives us any special grace or anything, but that Jesus gave it as a great way to help remind us what He has done for us. We conclude with a time of fellowship around tea and biscuits!

  • Our services are typically about 1.5 hours.

  • Absolutely not. We want you to feel welcomed when you come, so we wont ignore you, but we wont put you on the spot or ask you to do anything you’re not comfortable with. We’ve all been to new churches before, and we remember what its like.

  • We are an evangelical Christian church. Our denomination is Baptist. We are part of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland, with 119 churches across the Island. For more information about our beliefs, vision and values you can visit our ‘Who We Are’ page.

  • Your kids are most welcome. The kid’s typically stay with the adults during the singing and prayer at the start of the service. During the Bible teaching, kids are encouraged to take part in “children’s church” in the meeting room next door. Here they will learn about God and the Bible, do arts and crafts and sing some songs themselves. Anyone that works with our children has been thoroughly vetted, so you can rest assured that your children will be well taken care of.

  • While we would hope to own our own space at some point in the future, we believe that a church is more than a building. That the Church of God is a spiritual Body made up of all those who have placed all their faith and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation. So, as the Gospel according to St. Matthew says, “where two or more are gathered, there I am in their midst.” The place that occurs is irrelevant.

  • We gather as a church every Sunday morning at 10:30 am for worship, teaching and prayer. We fellowship with tea, coffee and snacks following our service. We meet in the Rinville or Maree Conference room at the Maldron Hotel in Oranmore.
